VMware Horizon View Remote Session Details

We received a requirement where our team wanted to see what is the license utilization for VMware Horizon View so that we can predict and plan to procure new licenses

I have mange to write up a script using View Power CLI to capture the Remote Session details for that particular point in time

PSOD for ESXi 5.X Due to E1000 NIC Driver

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting ESXi 5.0, 5.1, and 5.5 hosts and virtual machines using the E1000 and E1000e virtual network adapters. For more information about available network interface types, see Choosing a network adapter for your virtual machine (1001805).

vCenter 5.1 SSO Password Expired

Following procedure should be followed to reset the SSO expired password

The password policies in place require the password to be changed every 365 days. You cannot use the 5 previous passwords.

 Procedure

On the vCenter Server windows host:

1. Open an elevated command prompt and run the command:
• SET JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\jre
• Note: This is the default path of the JRE folder for vCenter Server 5.1. If vCenter Server has been installed in a custom location, change command accordingly.
2. Navigate to the ssolscli directory
• c:\>cd C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\SSOServer\ssolscli
3. Run the following command:
• ssopass -d https://:7444/lookupservice/sdk admin

I gave try for following VM Work Flows. Procedure is very simple. Connect via vCenter Orchestrator Client and Execute the Work Flow and it will prompt for the input

HeartBleed Bug

The Heartbleed bug is a bug in the open-source cryptography library OpenSSL which allows an attacker to read the memory of a server or a client, allowing them to retrieve for example server ssl private keys. Examinations of audit logs appear to show that some attackers may have exploited the flaw for 5 months before it was rediscovered and published.
